News of past EMBA officers and board members

Professor Guido Moro,
Co-founder 2007, past President (2010 – 2012) and former Treasurer (2012 – 2015)

Professor Moro continues to serve EMBA and be an active participant of the Board of Directors. Professor Moro has been one of the leading experts in establishing the new milk bank in Milan as well as being in great demand as a speaker worldwide.

Gillian Weaver,
Co-founder (2007), past President (2012 – 2015), Vice President (2010 – 2012)

Gillian Weaver retired from her hospital post with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust as manager of the Human Milk Bank in December 2015. Since then, Gillian has developed a new career as an international human milk banking specialist and consultant and this has taken her to Vietnam and India. Gillian is also the external expert advisor to the Red Cross National Blood Service in Australia. Gillian has recently co-founded a new not for profit social enterprise human milk bank just north of London which it is expected will become the provider of donor human milk to many hospital neonatal units in the South of England.

Kerri Frischknecht,
RN, RM, IBCLC, co-founder and former EMBA Secretary (2007 – 2014)

Retired from her post as Lactation Consultant and Milk Bank Director at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Switzerland in St Gallen in July 2015 and retired from the Board of Director’s following the 2015 Lyon EMBA Congress. Kerri now splits her time between Switzerland and her native Australia and her contributions to the board, to the administration of EMBA and to all our events are much missed by all her former colleagues.

Professor Staffan Polberger
Co-founder (2007) and board member (2010 – 2015)

Professor Polberger has retired from his clinical post in Sweden but maintains a role in the activities of the Swedish Milknet (Swedish Milk Banking Association). Professor Polberger’s expertise and long experience, particularly linked to the nutritional analysis of human milk, was hugely valuable to EMB and we will miss his presence at future meetings and conferences.

Dr Andreja Domjan
Board member (2012 – 2015)

Dr Domjan is actively pursuing the establishment of the first human milk bank at the hospital where she is a Consultant Neonatologist in Ljubljana in Slovenia. We wish her every success with this venture.
