- 2000 – A national audit of human milk banks was completed
- 2002 – Human milk banking guidelines were published in Italy
- 2005 – 2nd national audit and the foundation of the national association (AIBLUD)
- 2007 – Second Edition of Italian Human Milk Banking Guidelines
- 2008 – 2nd International Milk Banking Meeting in Milan
- 2010 – 3rd International Milk Banking Meeting and formal establishment of EMBA in Milan
