HMBANA 2020 International Milk Bank Conference cancelled
2020 International Donor Milk Conference: Notice of Cancellation
Regretfully, HMBANA’s 2020 International Donor Milk Conference in Austin, Texas is now cancelled due to concerns related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The decision to cancel was based on several factors. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has advised against unnecessary travel and encouraged cancelling gatherings, when possible. Most recently, the City of Austin has banned large gatherings between now and May 1.
Additionally, employer travel bans are impacting the ability to travel by many of our speakers and attendees who are from hospitals and other health institutions. Unfortunately, predictions say that such disruptions might worsen before they improve, thus making rescheduling this year’s conference challenging.
We are working out certain details with the hotel, after which we will have a clearer plan with what we’re doing with registrations that have already been made. With regard to any flight arrangements, we urge you to communicate directly with your airline or third-party sales agent to explore your options.
We regret any inconveniences that this decision might cause. Further, we regret that we will all miss out on seeing each other this year.
We look forward to seeing HMBANA members at next year’s membership symposium and to seeing our broader community at our next international donor milk conference, which has yet to be scheduled.
Thanks for your understanding.
